В работе на основе анализа опубликованных источников и архивного материала, в том числе, впервые вводимого автором в научный оборот, рассмотрена динамика численности эвенов, проживавших в 1950-е гг. в Олеринском и Халарчинском наслегах Нижнеколымского района Якутии. В статье для выявления причин колебания численности эвенов проведен сопоставительный анализ численности других представителей малочисленных этносов, проживавших в данном районе на основе материалов экспедиций 1951 и 1959 гг, статистических данных, сведений книг похозяйственного учета населения и документов управления ЗАГС. Выявлено, что рост и сокращение численности эвенов взаимосвязаны с увеличением и уменьшением численности юкагиров. Осуществлен анализ структуры родившихся детей по национальности матери как один из маркеров динамики численности эвенского населения. При сопоставлении данных похозяйственных книг со сведениями о рождении детей установлено несовпадение между количеством родившихся эвенов и зафиксированными в похозяйственных книгах эвенов. Результаты предпринятого обследования позволяют утверждать, что действительной причиной колебания численности эвенов и юкагиров в рассматриваемом районе является некорректная фиксация национальной принадлежности местного населения. : based on the analysis of published sources and archival materialsthis article makes a first attempt to overview the dynamic changes in the number of the Even population living in the Olerinsky and Khalarchinsky naslegs (small village settlements) of the Nizhnekolymsky district of Yakutiain the 1950s. The article attempts to identify the reasons of the change in the number of the Evenpopulation through a comparative analysis of other representatives of the indigenous ethnic groups and their number living in the area based on materials gathered during expeditions of 1951 and 1959, as well as statistics, information, books, household registration of the population and documents of the registry office. Our research revealed that the growth and decrease in the number of the Even population are both connected with the increase and decrease of another ethnic group of this district, i.e., the Yukaghir. The author also produced the analysis of the birth structure by mothers ethnicity as one of the factors of the dynamics changes in the Even population. The research showed that there is a discrepancy between the number of the Evens birth and their registration in the household books these findings serve asan argument that the real reason for the Even and the Yukagirschange in number in the considered area is an inaccurate registration of the ethnicity identity of the local population in the registry books.
