Last row: Mr. Hendrich, Weder jun. On the far left an unknown person. -- Mr. Hendrich is a grandson of the church's constructor. -- Walther Winkler: born in 1877 in Nazareth, Jamaica. Here he worked as a teacher. In 1908 he married Gertrud Knothe in Niesky. From 1908-11 her worked as a missionary in Suriname. Due to an illness of Mrs. Winkler they had to return to Europe in 1911. From 1913 missionary in South Africa West. From 1913 stationed in Elim. -- Samuel Will (1867-1957) was a missionary of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine. Born in Königsfeld, Germany, he married Bertha Müller in Herrnhut in 1893. The same year they went to Elim, South Africa, where he served as a missionary for several years. In 1903 he became trade inspector and a member of the provincial conference there. -- Hermann Birnbaum (1868-1939), born in See near Niesky, was a missionary of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine from 1897 until his death. At first he served in Elim as missionary and head of school as well as of the mill. In 1900 he was stationed in Goedverwacht until he moved to Cape Town (Moravian Hill and Maitland) in 1905. In 1912 he sought recreation in Germany. In October the following year he went back to Moravian Hill and then moved to Elim in 1914 where he stayed until his death. He married Eleonore Ledoux, née Redslob, in 1897. -- Friedrich Gericke, born in 1868 in Friedrichsthal, Greenland where he worked as a merchant.
