Peck, 42, Seattle Seaman wounded by gunfire from Ecuador patrol boat, pictured on stretcher last night (April 12) after he was flown here on Pan American Airways Clipper from Panama. Peck was rushed by ambulance to Seaside Hospital at Long Beach from International airport for further treatment. ‘International waters’ incident occurred last March 27 when fishing ‘freezer’ the Arctic Mate, on which he served as chief engineer was fired upon by Ecuadorian patrol craft. Peck said his ship was 35 miles off coast in vicinity of Ecuador-Peru border when he was hit. He suffered gunshot wounds in both legs. Father of four children, Peck said: ‘Tell my family I’ll make it home as soon as God will let me.’ The seaman was treated at hospital in Ecuador and later transferred to U.S. Government hospital in the Canal Zone.
