DOI: 10.6027/temanord2020-529 : The City of Whitehorse is located in Canada’s northwestern most territory, Yukon, and is a “small city in a big place”. Accordingly, many of its urban characteristics are similar to those of cities found in other circumpolar regions, and it shares many similar roles and functions as a core center located in a periphery that has been, and remains, significantly defined in relation to a vast natural resource extraction region. The following section of this report will examine urban Arctic tourism in relation to the City of Whitehorse.
