Accordingly, many of its urban characteristics are similar to those of cities found in other circumpolar regions, and it shares many similar roles and functions as a core center located in a periphery that has been, and remains, significantly defined in relation to a vast natural resource extraction region. The following section of this report will examine urban Arctic tourism in relation to the City of Whitehorse.
