This dataset was collected as part of a pilot study to tag Pacific cod in the Aleutians Islands, in particular to develop methods of tagging and different platforms from which to release satellite tags. The methods developed for this project are currently being used for satellite tagging Pacific cod in the Northern Bering Sea, Southeastern Bering Sea and Gulf of Alaska. All satellite tag folders contain several files (example: 177953). These data were collected from the first study to deploy Pop-up Satellite Archival Tags (PSATs) on Pacific cod in the North Pacific Ocean. Adult Pacific cod were tagged in February 2019 in the Aleutian Islands and programmed to "pop-up" off the fish after 90, 180, 270 or 360 days in order to characterize seasonal movement (e.g., movement from winter spawning to summer foraging locations).
