Sediment community oxygen consumption rates reflect the net respiration of the whole infaunal community, including microbes, meiofauna, and macrofauna. These data can be used to calculate carbon demand of the benthic community. We conducted whole-core incubation experiments using intact sediment cores collected from replicate multi-core deployments at each ASGARD process station where substrate was conducive to coring. Incubations were conducted at ~0 degrees and 5 degrees C to approximate ambient and future temperatures.
