Description
Summary:These data are part of the Arctic IES component of the Arctic Integrated Ecosystem Research Program (IERP), sponsored by the North Pacific Research Board (NPRB), Collaborative Alaskan Arctic Studies Program (formerly the North Slope Borough/Shell Baseline Studies Program), Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), and the Office of Naval Research Marine Mammals and Biology Program. To investigate the residence time and seasonal movement of midwater fishes in the U.S. Continental Region of the NE Chukchi Sea, upward-facing echosounder moorings were deployed from August 2017 - September 2019. Acoustic backscatter of the water column was collected 70 kHz for approximately 3 minutes, every 2 hours. This dataset contains a filtered 70 kHz dataset to represent scattering from fishes. Data is integrated into 5-meter water column depth bins and single wake-up (2 hour) time segments, and presented here in CSV format with time identifiers. Supplemental datasets from a) Seabird SBE37 conductivity and temperature recorder and b) underwater logging compass mounted on the platform are included. Engineering diagram of platform is included.
