Description
Summary:The study of the sacred traditions of the Ob Ugrians includes ideas about the soul and its reincarnation, as well as the views associated with them on the meaning of human life, is inextricably linked with the theme of the genus. An analysis of the folklore and ethnographic materials of the Khanty and Mansi shows that the entire system of spiritual values was historically formed and passed on to their relatives. The ancestral legends contain an explanation of the deep meaning of the shrines protected by the people. The purpose of the work is to reveal the meaning of the clan in the cultures of the Khanty and Mansi, as a structure that carries meanings. The author pays attention to the etymology of the concept of "person", the definition of gender roles in the preservation of clan continuity, the reincarnation of souls in the clan, the veneration of patron spirits as an integral part of the ancestor cult. Based on previous research, the article broadcasts the "internal" perspective of the problems under consideration, from the representatives of the people themselves. This approach allows us to work out many poorly studied topics that underlie folk traditions and often remain outside the field of sight of outside observers.
