В 2021 г. исполнилось 30 лет со дня выхода определения Священного Синода Русской Православной Церкви о возобновлении деятельности самостоятельной Владивостокской епархии, впервые открытой в 1899 г. Возрождение епархии в 1990-е гг. под руководством архиепископа Николая (Шкрумко) и митрополита Вениамина (Пушкаря) имеет определенную схожесть с теми процессами церковного строительства, которые проявились еще в XIX в. Для современного исследователя и любителя церковной истории будет важным прояснить вопрос: в чем состоит параллелизм между первым открытием Владивостокской епархии и ее восстановлением? Целью статьи является уточнение исторических событий, обстоятельств, дат, фактов, связанных с созданием Владивостокской епархии в конце XIX в., а также поиск свидетельств об инициативе, личном вкладе церковных иерархов, государственных деятелей и других лиц, оказавшихся причастными к утверждению православной веры на новых землях. В результате исследования автор приходит к следующим выводам: обсуждение и решение о создании Владивостокской епархии было принято в результате длительной (более 10 лет) и тщательной проработки вопросов административно-территориального и финансового характера. Днем создания епархии автор предлагает считать 21 марта (ст. ст.) 1899 г. : The year 2021 marks the 30th anniversary of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church’s decision to reopen the independent Vladivostok diocese, first opened in 1899. The revival of the diocese in the 1990s under the leadership of Archbishop Nikolai (Shkrumko) and Metropolitan Veniamin (Pushkar) has some similarities with those processes of church building that were manifested in the XIX century. For the modern researcher and admirer of church history it will be important to clear up a question: what is the parallelism between the first opening of the Vladivostok diocese and its restoration? The aim of the article is to clarify the historical events, circumstances, dates, facts related to the creation of the Vladivostok diocese in the late XIX century, as well as to find evidence about the initiative, personal contributions of church hierarchs, public figures and others who were involved in the establishment of the Orthodox faith in the new lands. As a result of the study the author comes to the following conclusions: the discussion and the decision to establish the Vladivostok diocese was adopted as a result of a long (more than 10 years) and thorough work on administrative-territorial and financial issues. The author proposes to consider the date of the establishment of the diocese as March 21 (Old Style), 1899.
