Проведено определение показателей и причин смертности детского населения коренных малочисленных народов Севера (КМНС) Корякского автономного округа, их влияние на обобщенные показатели смертности населения округа, сравнение с показателями смертности аналогичной возрастной категории пришлого населения и населения г. Кировска промышленного моногорода в высоко урбанизированном регионе Арктической зоны РФ (Мурманской обл.) со сходными природно-климатическими условиями и значительными различиями в уровне социально-экономического развития. Использовались данные сплошной выкопировки из журналов регистрации свидетельств о смерти, выданных районными отделами ЗАГС исследуемых территорий, за 1968-1991 годы. Основными причинами смерти у детей первого года жизни из числа КМНС являются болезни органов дыхания и травмы, в 10 и более раз превосходящие уровни в группе детей некоренных национальностей КАО.
