Description
Summary:Редакция журнала «Пространство и Время» публикует некролог члена редакционного совета издательского проекта «Пространство и Время», доктора физико-математических наук, ведущего научного сотрудника ИФЗ РАН А.Г. Гамбурцева. : Dr. Azariy G. Gamburtsev was the prominent Russian geophysist, Principal Researcher at Institute of Physics of the Earth, RAS; he was son of academician Grigory Gamburtsev, who was one of the founders of Soviet seismology. Throughout his life, Azariy Gamburtsev worked at the Institute of Physics of the Earth; the first 20 years of his scientific activity, he was a research assistant at the laboratory of seismic methods of exploration, studying the propagation of seismic waves in complex heterogeneous media in different regions of the USSR. During field studies in Kyrgyzstan (Toktogul and Nurek water storage reservoir) and at the Dushanbe geophysical test site, in the Saratov Volga region and the Perm Ural, in Georgia and Yakutia, Azariy Gamburtsev accumulated valuable material about the properties of the low velocity zone and its effect on reflected and passing longitudinal and transverse waves. Understanding and summarizing the results of spectral-wave analysis obtained in the field of geophysics as one of the most important areas of both knowledge of the world around and the safety of human life, became the basis for further study of the interrelationships between various natural (cosmic, geospheric, climatic and biological), anthropogenic and social processes on a wide spatial-temporal scale. Thanks to Azariy Gamburtsev, these studies have combined efforts of scientists from different scientific fields in development of comprehensive geodynamic, environmental, social and medical monitoring to make a strategy for effective environmental management. Scientific conceptualization result of this large-scale spatial and temporal dynamics was the publication of a unique series of five volumes of the Atlas of Temporal Variations of Natural, Anthropogenic and Social Processes. As well as the development of such a large-scale interdisciplinary project being itself a scientific feat, the new vision of variable poly- rhythmicity in various geophysical, biological and social systems proposed by Azariy Gamburtsev actually made him the founder of a new independent truly interdisciplinary direction of scientific knowledge. At the same time, Azariy Gamburtsev was not only a talented analyst and brilliant organizer of interdisciplinary scientific and scientific publishing activities; he was a man endowed with great spiritual generosity, consummate sense of humor and justice, a rare gift to be a reliable friend and an even more rare talent to respect the opinion of not only like-minded people, but also critical opponents.
