Dem für die Periglazialstufe von Hochgebirgen charakteristischen Oberflächentyp "grobblockiger Schutt" kommt in diesem Zusammenhang eine Schlüsselrolle zu. Solange eine Blockschicht nicht durch eine geschlossene Schneedecke abgedeckt wird, unterscheidet sich das Mikroklima in grobblockigem Substrat fundamental von dem in Feinsubstrat, da nicht-konduktive Wärmetransfermechanismen zumindest phasenweise über die Wärmeleitung dominieren. In Abhängigkeit von den beteiligten Wärmetransfermechanismen erhöht sich während diesen Perioden der Energieumsatz im Vertikalprofil. Ihr Einfluss auf die Stabilität der thermischen Schichtung im Hohlraumsystem entscheidet darüber, welche Bereiche der Blockschicht dem erhöhten Energieumsatz unterliegen. The surface type "coarse blocky debris" typical for the periglacial belt of high mountain environments plays a key role within this context. The microclimate within coarse debris differs substantially from that in soil substrate, as long as the block layer is not completely covered by snow, because non-conductive heat transfer mechanisms dominate over heat conduction at least temporarily. The heat exchange in the profile increases during such periods dependent on the participating heat transfer mechanisms.
