Summary:We report herein the euryplacid crab Sotoplax robertsi, previously known only from the type locality (Gulf of Mexico, 28º30'N, 84º58'W), off the east coast of Brazil (states of Bahia and Espírito Santo, 13°54'14"S, 39°00'34"W and 20º44'S, 40º25'W, respectively). This is the first record from the South Atlantic Ocean, and considerably extends the known geographical range of this species. We provide information on the morphology of the male, and the first description of the female.
