The primary objectives included quantifying the structure and temporal variability of the main water masses, as well as obtaining detailed information about upper ocean, halocline, AW layer dynamics, and seasonal variations. The moorings were heavily equipped with current meters. They used a combination of 300-kilohertz (kHz) and 75-kHz (Longranger) ADCPs (Acoustic Doppler Current Profilers), to measure the velocity profile from the ocean surface to the depth of ~450 meters (m).
