Summary:The overarching objective of this study was to investigate production and release of biogenic sulfur compounds in a remote Arctic location. These compounds are instrumental in the formation of aerosols that ultimately form cloud condensation nuclei. Discrete water-column dimethyl sulfide (DMS) and dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP) measurements were collected aboard icebreaker Oden during the Arctic Ocean 2018 (AO2018) expedition to the central Arctic Ocean in August and September 2018. This expedition is also referred to as MOCCHA (Microbiology-Ocean-Cloud-Coupling in the High Arctic). This dataset contains measurements of seawater DMS, dissolved DMSP (DMSPd) and total DMSP (DMSPt) concentrations from high-latitude regions of the ice-covered central Arctic Ocean. The results are contained in a CSV file and the units for the measurements are nmol/L (equivalent to nM or nanomoles per liter).
