Bering Strait Mooring Data - Russian Channel - summer 2004 to summer 2006

Insitu, year-round data from subsurface moorings deployed in the western (Russian) channel of the Bering Strait from summer 2004 - summer 2005 (1 mooring) and from summer 2005 - summer 2006 (3 moorings). Moorings recorded lower layer water velocity, temperature and salinity ~ hourly. Some instrument...

Moorings recorded lower layer water velocity, temperature and salinity ~ hourly. Some instruments also recorded fluorescence and turbidity. In 2005-2006, an upward looking Acoustic Data Current Profiler (ADCP) recorded water velocity at different levels and some measure of ice velocity and ice thickness. For full details, see Readme file below. Data are available via our website (Data Access link below) and from National Oceanographic Data Center (NODC) (related data link below). These deployments are part of the NOAA-RUSALCA (Russian-American Long Term Census of the Arctic Program), lead PI T. Weingartner. Related data sets include concurrent mooring measurements in the other channel of the strait, various conductivity, temperature and density (CTD) data and other years of Bering Strait moorings, deployed almost continuously since 1990. For an overview, see http://psc.apl.washington.edu/BeringStrait.html, and/or search this archive or NODC. Bering Strait data are standardly submitted to NODC for permanent archiving.
