Description
Summary:The Party-Interest Group Relationships in Contemporary Democracies (PAIRDEM) datasets include cross-national data from three different surveys of 1) central party organizations (PAIRDEM_CPOsurvey_final), 2) legislative party groups (PAIRDEM_PPsurvey_final), and 3) interest groups (PAIRDEM_IG_survey_final). A fourth dataset (PAIRDEM-PPDB_data_v1_2_final) on coding of party statutes and party finance data was established together with the Political Party Database (PPDB). The datasets contain novel indicators on party-group relationships in up to 21 mature democracies and can be used to answer a variety of possible research questions. The datasets enable researchers and students to examine party group ties from both sides - within and outside the legislative arena - and thus cover a range of different relational aspects including new indicators such as groups' input to parties' decision-making processes. The datasets cover the following countries: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and the United States. See below for more information on which countries included in which dataset. Here you can find all the PAIRDEM datasets, codebooks, survey scripts and documentation reports. For more information on the project we refer to our research note in Party Politics (DOI forthcoming) and the survey documentation reports.
