Data from the Russian-Norwegian database were used to study food composition of the most numerous Barents Sea fishes (cod, haddock, Greenland halibut, long rough dab, thorny and other skates, redfishes, saithe) in the 1980-90s. Length composition of commercial prey species and changes in predator diet depending on their length (age) are analysed. Possible values of total food consumption by these species are estimated and the impact of these predators on the stock status of commercial species is described. Biomass of food consumed by fish is compared to that consumed by other top predators (sea mammals). ...
