The western stock consists mainly of Belt Sea cod (Gadus morhua morhua L., according to ITIS Gadus morhua L.) and the eastern one of „Baltic cod (Gadus morhua callarias L.). Between the Sub-divisions feeding and spawning migrations as well as a drift of eggs and larvae take place and thus mixing of the stock members can occur. In this paper the distribution of the two subspecies on the fishing grounds from the Kiel Bay (SD 22) to the Bornholm Sea (SD 25) is investigated. To identify the „subspecies, the number of dorsal fin rays (D1and D2) of cod were analysed by discriminant analysis. Each cod was classified, and the proportion of the two „subspecies was calculated by area, year or month, age group and compared between the units. The highest variation of the proportion was found for Sub-division 24. For ... Article in Journal/Newspaper Gadus morhua DataCite Metadata Store (German National Library of Science and Technology)
