Usage of traditional methods of stock's and TAC estimation has the following obstacles: difficult age structure, significant differences of hydrological conditions on the sea feeding areas, on the long migration ways and long-lasting period of migration in offshore and mouth parts of spawning rivers. In this connection, method of smolt's counting was selected for prognosis estimation of spawning herd's number. The smolt's counting was conducted in rivers where salmon spawning-and-growth areas (SGA) had been estimated. The MBAL (minimal biological acceptable level) was used in the process of TAC estimations as limiting reference points.
