ICEL-NMAR Earthquake Catalogue

The ICEL-NMAR Earthquake Catalogue, version 2, contains a list of MW ≥ 4 earthquakes during the period 1900-2019 in Iceland and the Northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge. The catalogue is described in the article [1], and those who use it for scientific work are requested to cite that article. A selection cri...

The catalogue is described in the article [1], and those who use it for scientific work are requested to cite that article. A selection criterion for inclusion in the catalogue is that an earthquake is listed in the ISC Bulletin Event Catalog or in the catalogue of Ambraseys and Sigbjornsson [2] and assigned an MW, MS or mb magnitude. Entries in the catalogue are marked either ICEL for events in the region 62°-68°N and 12°-26°W, or NMAR for other events in the region 44°–75°N, 0°–40°W together with 67°–73°N, 0°–17°E (covering the Northern Mid-Atlantic Ridge). ICEL events have reassessed locations but NMAR events have locations copied directly from the ISC catalogue. Both kinds have reassessed magnitudes, including proxy MW obtained with regression.
