Cow is a First-Nations Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander led program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children aged 5 to 12. Inspired by an earlier Connecting to Culture (CCP) program, CoW aims to build confidence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, teach emotional regulation and mindfulness through connection to culture, as well as building a positive connection with identity and cultural spirit. While the CCP was designed for use in Wadjuk Noongar Country, this project will use the research method of Yarning methodology with local key stakeholders, staff, and parents/caregivers to co-design CoW to meet two partner communities' cultural needs. CoW intends to create a culturally infused sense of belonging and increase children's attachment to a community that supports healing against past trauma.
