Description
Summary:This dataset contains the ice thickness data recorded by ground-based radio echo sounding experiment carried out along a traverse route from the JASE meeting point toward Kohnen Station and Wasa Station in East Antarctica. The data were recorded in the joint Japanese-Swedish JASE traverse survey by NIPR (the 48th and 49th Japanese Antarctic Research Expedition (JARE48 and JARE49)) and Stockholm University. PIs of the joint survey are Shuji Fujita (NIPR, Japan) and Per Holmlund (Stockholm University, Sweden). They used a pulse-modulated VHF radar sounder with a peak transmission power of 1 kW, a center frequency of 179 MHz and a transmitter pulse width of 250 ns. Position of sites are recorded based on GPS with errors within 20 m. Fujita et al. (2011) and Fujita et al. (2012) are the original papers for the data. In 2021, the data were validated and corrected (Tsutaki et al. 2022, TC paper). ...
