Active layer depths at a thermokarst lake in the Mackenzie Delta and on Tuktoyaktuk Island, Northwest Territories, Canada ...

This dataset contains Permafrost active layer depths taken in September 2021 at 28 locations on Tuktoyaktuk Island (Beaufort Sea) as well as next to a small thermokarst lake (“Lake 3”) between the villages of Tuktoyaktuk and Inuvik, Northwest Territories, Canada. The measurements were part of the “M...

The measurements were part of the “Mackenzie Delta Permafrost Field Campaign” (mCan2021) within the “Modular Observation solutions for Earth Systems” (MOSES) program. Depths were taken using a 1.5 m permafrost probe. The aim was to measure the active layer thickness above the permafrost in order to be able to verify depths to permafrost inferred using geophysical methods (Seismic ambient noise, Electrical Resistivity Tomography “ERT”).
