Hydrometeorolgical observations in the Grønfjorden area

Current hydrometeorological dataset refers to the catchments of the Grøndalen, Grønfjorddalen, Bretjørna, Aldegonda, Bryde, Kongress and Vasstak rivers (West Spitsbergen). The time series includes average snow cover depth, density of the snow cover, snow water equivalent and daily runoff data from 2...

The time series includes average snow cover depth, density of the snow cover, snow water equivalent and daily runoff data from 2002 to 2019. The snow cover depth measurements were made with a specialized rod. The snow cover density was measured with a "ВС-43" (in Russian letters) density meter. The value of snow water equivalent is calculated taking into account the presence of ice crusts in the snow mass, as well as on the underlying surface. Runoff was restored according to the rating curve. Water discharge was measured using a propeller-type current meter and level gauge complex АДУ-01 (2003-2012) or hydrostatic levelogger Solinst 3001 (2013-2019). These variables are important for the recognition of the functioning of Arctic watersheds.
