Snow height data generated with a Structure-from-Motion photogrammetry approach at the EGRIP camp site in 2018 ...

The here stored snow height data are used to investigate the depositional processes of the snow surface by using a Structure-from-Motion photogrammetry approach to generate near-daily elevation models for a 195m^2 area next to the deep drilling site of the East Greenland Ice Core Project (EGRIP) in...

Based on the snow height information we derived snow height changes on a day-to-day basis throughout the observation period from May to August 2018. Specifically, the average snow height increased by ~11 cm throughout this period while the standard deviation and with this the surface roughness, decreased from 4 cm to 2 cm. Furthermore, we observed irregular snow deposition, erosion and the redistribution of snow, which caused an uneven snow accumulation pattern and resulted in a negative relationship between the initial snow height and the amount of accumulated snow. ...
