The lander was equipment with benthic chambers, which were also able to recover sediment.The first five centimetres of the sediment core was sieved over a 500 µm mesh and stored in borax buffered 4 % formaldehyde and stained with Rose Bengal after Heip et al., 1985. Afterwards, macrofauna taxa were identified to the highest taxonomic level, counted and weighted (blotted wet weight). Based on macrofauna community density and biomass data, the bioturbation potential was calculated after Queirios et al. (2011).
