All stations during the transect from the ice edge to the drift station were reached by helicopter. During the drift station (2004-11-29 to 2005-01-02) the ice was accessed through a gangway directly from the vessel. During the drift station, patches P6 and P9 were on first-year sea ice, patches P5 and P8 on multi-year sea ice. All vertical positions are corrected to freeboard, e.g. z=0 represents the snow-ice interface. More detailed information about the data sets and methods are available from the cruise report (section 3.2).
