Protoperidiniacean dinoflagellate cysts were identified in 19 of 28 samples from two sites on the Antarctic Peninsula continental rise. Cysts are most common in the lower Pliocene and upper Miocene and include species of Brigantedinium, Lejeunecysta, and Selenopemphix. Autotrophic gonyaulacacean dinoflagellate cysts are very rare in the samples.
