The Botanical Garden in Surgut State University is the northernmost in Western Siberia and one of the northernmost botanical gardens in Russia; it is the main outpost for the advancement of new agricultural and biotechnologies to the Far North, incl. to the Arctic regions on the principles of stepwise acclimatization of valuable species and varieties of plants. The work is carried out by the staff of the Institute of Natural and Technical Sciences (senior researcher G.M. Kukurichkin, senior researcher I.N. Turbina, senior researcher N.V. Nakonechny, senior researcher R.Kh. Bordey), an employee of the Department of Ecology (associate professor V.N. Tyurin), employees of the Center for Shared Equipment (laboratory assistants D.V.Bogdanova, R.S. Vdovkin, A.L. Romanchuk, M.D. Derbishev, N.S. Plesovskikh and volunteers).
