In terrestrial biotopes, animals were caught in cones. In forest biocenoses, grooves were dug, 50 m high and wide (Dinesman and Kaletskaya, 1952). In waterlogged biotopes (all types of swamps, coastal areas of lakes and rivers), fences were made from plastic film (Okhotina, Kostenko, 1974), 30-40 cm high and 50 m long. The census included the species composition, the abundance, physical activity and a number of other characteristics.
