We aim for phase-contrast tomography and hierarchical scanning of several full sea ice cores from MOSAiC, exploring the unique possibility at BM18 to scan large sample volumes with locally high resolution. The experiment will set a benchmark in 3D image quality of sea ice microstructure and produce an open source dataset be relevant for many polar research topics and groups within and outside the MOSAiC consortium. ...
