In our previous studies, the fluvial transport of dissolved organic carbon (DOC) and CO2, and the delivery of sediment and particulate organic carbon (POC) from land to river have been implemented separately in the ORCHIDEE LSM. Here we further implemented the fluvial transport of sediment and POC in ORCHIDEE. The new branch of ORCHIDEE, called ORCHIDEE-Clateral, simulates the complete lateral transport of water, sediment, POC, DOC and CO2 from land to sea through the river network, the deposition of sediment and POC in river channel and floodplains, as well as the decomposition POC and DOC during the fluvial transport processes.
