The newly incorporated Twin Sisters Native Plant Nursery, a joint venture of the Saulteau First Nations and West Moberly First Nations, was created to meet a growing demand for native plant species for use in reclamation in the Peace River region of British Columbia. Associated with this new native plant nursery is the development of a number of programs that support successful nursery operations as well as the use of native plants in reclamation work in the region. Collaborative research involving First Nations and industry partners aids in the identification of a wide range of culturally significant and ecologically appropriate native plant species for propagation. Training programs in native plant horticulture support the creation of a skilled and knowledgeable workforce. A proposed native plant reclamation guidebook will contribute to successful installation of native plant species at reclamation sites.
