In addition to the raw data, Python and shell scripts are deposited to process the data. The data set is used to evaluate the new discretization of the sea ice dynamics in the ocean model ICON-O. The approach is based on a CD-grid like approximation of the sea ice momentum equation, that is realized on an icosahedral grid. We numerically demonstrate the first order convergence in space by comparing the approximation to an analytic solution (4.1/ball.gp). We further show that a stabilization of the CD-grid on the icosahedral gird is required (4.1/vtk). To analyze the robustness of the CD-grid approach in ICON-O we solve the sea ice momentum equation on the sphere (4.2/ice_drift_sphere00002.vtk) and compare the results to a simulation conducted in two-dimensional planar geometry (4.2/ice_drift_planar00001.vtk). Finally, we compare the simulated sea ice drift from ICON-O with observations (4.3/Fig5.png). README.txt outlines how the routines are realized in ICON-O.
