This manuscript endeavours to interpret processes in the upper mantle and in the Earth's crust involved, when basaltic magmas formed and finally solidified in the form of basaltic sills in the uppermost crust of the Faroe Islands. We detect the nature of the most likely mantle sources (geochemically and isotopically) and interpret relevant processes such as crystal fractionation, mineral accumulation and minor crustal contamination during evolvement of the magmas that were eventually emplaced as basaltic sills in the Faroese area. The supplements presented here involve petrographic data, geochemical data, isotopic data, analytical techniques and so forth. The supplements thoroughly support the inferences and interpretations put forward in the main manuscript.
