Description
Summary:In Central Yakutia the main factors influencing roe deer population dynamics are overharvesting, unfavourable weather conditions during wintering and predators. Poaching with cars is wide spread in the region and is often covered by licenses. In Central Yakutia, where the northernmost border of the area of this species in the northeast of Asia is located, a survival rate of roe deer depends on deep snow and low temperatures. Decrease of roe deer numbers within the whole area is caused in the main by wolf and lynx, and their predation rate increases manyfold in winters with deep snow and when there is a thin crust of ice over snow.
