For thousands of years throughout the Russian North, thanks to a kind of climatic conditions, forming a type of economy in which agriculture could not completely give people the means to survive and thrive. As the hunting skills of indigenous tribes and fishing traditions of the Russian population, together with the natural and geographical conditions, helped shape the territory of the Russian North a few hunting and fishing zones, each with its own characteristic fauna of fishing, hunting practices and markets. The tools, methods and hunting techniques of Russian North the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries are described.
