Using Taimyr Autonomous Area as an example an epizootic situation on the main especially dangerous infectious diseases was discussed. There is a potential risk of the development of new natural foci of diseases and the increase of the activity of old foci on the principle of saprozooanthroponoses due to the increase of wild reindeer numbers of the Taimyr population and the enlargement of their area, the increase of reindeer direct contacts with domestic deer and other animals, and also due to the intensification of the industrial development of the Yenisei North, the expanding of economic relations of that Autonomous Area with other regions and the setting up of a large number of farms with different forms of property. Special attention should be focused on such diseases as anthrax, rabies and brucellosis. It is difficult to carry out preventive measures under the conditions of the Far North. However, it is necessary to work out effective measures on the control of epizootic processes of natural focal diseases.
