The reverberation of Moscow and Novgorod ancient traditions are found in the architecture of the wooden temples, local architecture traditions, developed in various areas of the Russian North, are investigated in one work, their comparative-typological analysis is carried out. The features of Moscow traditions include barrel shapes roofing, cross-squared barrels roofing and others, which are often found along the main trade routes of the Onega and the Northern Dvina Rivers, which link the center of the country with its suburbs in the North. A barrel shape was the basis for a further variety of solutions in architecture. One of them was combination hipped roof on the cross-squared barrels. Area of distribution of this composition was Pinega-Mezen region.
