Wide introduction of information-communication technologies (ICT) in every economic sphere in the Republic of Karelia resulted in an active growth of the population needs in raising the level of information literacy without interrupting their work, which, in its turn, requires anticipatory advanced training for PetrSU's teaching staff in the field of ICT and distance learning. Changes and extension of the subject matter of the advanced training courses resulted in modernization of the university's advanced training system based on up-to-date distance educational technologies (DET).
