Summary: | The article is dedicated to wooden constructions built to the projects of Lars Sonck (1870-1956) during the period of Art Nouveau in Finland. The author of the article analyses methods and approaches used by the architect in villa-construction at different stages of his career. She also defines peculiar as well as common features of the constructions, which allow to classify them as typical of national romantic style in Finnish architecture. The layout of these wooden villas demonstrate interrelation of Finnish and Karelian traditions with the influence of Western European and American building practice, as well as functional requirements of that time.
