Статья посвящена 150-летию со дня рождения А.С. Архангельского (1854-1926), знаменитого профессора Казанского университета, известного представителя русской академической школы истории литературы. Предметом исследования в статье является магистерская диссертация В.А. Богородицкого первое монографическое исследование жизни и деятельности Нила Сорского. The article is devoted to the 150 anniversary from birth of A.S. Arkhangelsky (1854-1926), the prominent professor of Kazan University, the notable representative of Russian academic history of literature. The Master dissertation of Arkhangelsky became the subject of scientific research the first monographic investigation of life and activities of Nil Sorsky. The preparation history and the dissertation publication, the fundamental content and structure, the research principles and methods all these are considered and characterized. The attention is paid to the work significance of Kazan scientist in the future understanding the great old man's personality in native and West European science. A number of little known and unknown sources and archives materials are introduced in the scientific terminology (circulation).
