Ниже публикуется перевод этой статьи на русский язык в сопровождении её английского оригинала. In the summer of 1837 academician Karl Ernst von Baer organized and headed an expedition of the Petersburg Academy of Sciences on the archipelago of Novaya Zemlya. Journey to Novaya Zemlya continued four months and took place in very difficult meteorological conditions. Karl von Baer was the first natural scientist, who visited Novaya Zemlya. He studied the fauna and flora of the Novaya Zemlya, performed the topographical survey and made the meteorological observations. These studies gave ideas about the relief, the climate, the plant and animal world of Novaya Zemlya. The article « Recent Intelligence upon the Frozen Ground in Siberia » by academician Karl Ernst von Baer was published in 1838 in the «Journal of the Royal Geographical Society of London ». In this article were presented the some results of permafrost studies, which were carried out by Baer on Novaya Zemlya. This article never was published in the Russian language. The translation of this article in Russian accompanied by its English original is published below.
