In the years of First World War economical and political contacts between Canada and United States had strengthen greatly. At the same time, the influence of the metropolis on the North American dominion became rather strong. To strengthen its position on the international arena Canada tried to consider the interests of both Great Britain and the United States during the Paris peace conference and to play the role of mediator between them.
