Adaptation of the indigenous people sticking to traditional economy to market relations is confronted by objective difficulties and requires scientific assistance. On the basis of monitoring sociological studies held in 1994 and 2007 the authors show peculiarities of the life quality of the European Nenets people in the monoethnic settlement of Nelmin Nos.
