The current stage of the development of the educational system strongly requires the participation of any university in international activities. This article deals with the problems of organization of international activities in higher educational establishments. The article regards the basic principles of international activities of higher education, discusses the key ideas of international cooperation of universities. The experience of organizing international activities in Kamchatka State University named after Vitus Bering is described. The problems and their solutions in order to build effective international activity and international cooperation at the university are identified.
