The acquired brightness temperatures are compared with a multilayered sea ice emissivity model, the so-called Burke model combined with a sea ice permittivity model. The in situ data is validated by obtaining great agreement with the model, therefore being the first step towards an improvement of the present satellite sea ice thickness retrievals Peer reviewed Other/Unknown Material Sea ice Digital.CSIC (Spanish National Research Council)
