The company Musselsforall S.L.U., located at Arenys de Mar (Barcelona), started his activity in 2014 growingmusselspre-commercial size (5cm) in longline, selling his first year, 11T of fresh mussel. The profitability of these companies is made by the sale price and by the production costs. To improve benefits we proposed two alternatives: increase production, through the determination of the minimum farm size, and diversifying cultivated species with the introduction of the Pacific oyster (Crassostrea gigas) with a higher sale price. Based on these alternatives the threshold of profitability to cover total costs was determined. Also, a static economic study was performed using indexes of economic profitability as profit/investment and a study of the investment, considering factors such as the Net Present Value (NPV),the Internal Rate of Return (IRR)or pay back. With these results we can maintainthat the future direction that has to follow the company owes to increase the production and sell to the HORECA sector, and also study other species to diversify to reduce to reducethe risk associated witha livingcultureand expand its offer and increase the customer base [ES] Las empresas que se dedican al engorde y cría de mejillón (Mytilus galloprovincialis) en España seencuentran con una situación de rentabilidad bastante ajustada.
