Summary: | The research contributes to the understanding of late Holocene environmental changes in the Forth Valley.Scotland has been greatly affected by differential glacio-isostatic uplift after the demise of the late British-Irish ice sheet. This has been one of the main causes for fluctuations in sea-levels during the Holocene as recorded previously from the Forth lowland. Previous studies have attempted to determine late Holocene sea-level changes in the Forth lowland on the basis of archaeological evidence (e.g. Smith et al 2010). However, little is known about these changes in the Forth Valley. |
